Finally finished building the #LEGO MOC The War Rig from Mad Max: Fury Road by @SerialBuilder_ and it is MASSIVE. I’m happy I was able to hide a ton of various color parts from my collection inside the model. 😋

And then BrickLink is your friend to get the parts: bricklink.com
The estimated cost of $350-400 for the parts is accurate, I paid less because I used about half of them from my personal collection I assembled from buying bulk bins off Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace and NextDoor.

My goal was to maximize the amount of parts I could use from my own stash, so I first recreated the model in Stud.io from the instructions, figured out the part I could use any color for, and started collecting the parts. I initially started with the tractor only because I figured it was the most interesting part of the model and had only 25% of the total amount of parts, enabling me to control the spend.
This took me several months for the tractor, because I had a few bulk bins to sort and I was hoping to find parts for the model. Plus I had other MOCs to buy parts for first, so it went to the end of the queue.
I finally pulled the trigger and ordered the rest of the parts for the tractor in January 2022. It took me a while to then get around to build it even though it only took me a few hours. It looked good, but a little naked without the trailers, so I repeated the process with the trailers. I ordered the remaining parts early June 2022 and it took me several hours to put it together last week given the sheer amount of parts to assemble even if it was a tad repetitive.

I sell mostly restored used sets and stickered parts, but I started selling regular parts, minifigures and instructions as well. Shipping outside the US is pretty expensive but I will make an effort for #Fediverse friends!
I don't need the money as much as I need shelf space, so I can be accommodating.
